Terms of Service

TradeWise Ltd · Last updated: 1 September 2026

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using the TradeWise platform. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Introduction & Acceptance

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the TradeWise platform, operated by TradeWise Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (“TradeWise”, “we”, “us”, “our”).

By accessing or using our website or any related services (collectively, the “Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.

We may update these Terms. Registered users receive at least 30 days' notice of material changes.

2. Definitions

Platform
The TradeWise website and all associated services.
User
Any individual or entity that accesses or uses the Platform.
Homeowner
A User who posts jobs and seeks to engage Tradespeople.
Tradesperson
A User who registers to offer trade or home services through the Platform.
Job
A request posted by a Homeowner describing work to be carried out.
Quote
A fixed-price offer submitted by a Tradesperson in response to a Job.
Contract
The digital service agreement generated by the Platform when a Quote is accepted, and signed by both parties.
Commission
The percentage fee invoiced to Tradespeople on completed jobs, set out in Clause 6.

3. Platform Services

TradeWise is an intermediary marketplace connecting Homeowners with Tradespeople. We provide:

  • AI-assisted job intake and structuring
  • Matching of jobs to verified Tradespeople who cover the area and trade
  • In-app messaging between parties
  • Quote management
  • Auto-generated digital service contracts
  • A dispute process for jobs arranged through the Platform
  • Tradesperson verification checks (Clause 9)

TradeWise is not a party to any agreement between Homeowners and Tradespeople, does not take or hold payment for work, and does not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any work performed.

4. Homeowner Terms

4.1 Posting Jobs

Homeowners may post Jobs free of charge. By posting a Job, you confirm that: (a) you own the property or have authority to commission work there; (b) the information provided is accurate; (c) you will respond to Tradespeople in a timely manner.

4.2 Accepting Quotes

Accepting a Quote generates a Contract. The Contract becomes binding between you and the Tradesperson once both parties have signed it. Until then either party may withdraw.

4.3 Completion

You confirm completion of the work on the Platform. Payment is made directly to the Tradesperson under the terms of the Contract; TradeWise does not handle it.

4.4 Disputes

Either party may raise a dispute while a job is in progress or within 14 days of completion. We review the evidence both parties submit, aim to respond within 3 working days, and record an outcome. Because TradeWise does not hold funds, our outcome is a finding, not a payment instruction; your statutory rights against the Tradesperson are unaffected.

5. Tradesperson Terms

5.1 Account Types

Tradespeople may register as a sole trader or a registered company. Company accounts must supply their Companies House number, which is checked against the register.

5.2 Verification

Before receiving leads, appearing in the directory or sending Quotes, a Tradesperson must: (a) verify their email address and phone number; (b) pass photo-ID verification; and, for company accounts, (c) match the registered company name and a listed officer at Companies House. A VAT number, if supplied, is checked with HMRC. We do not currently check insurance or trade qualifications; certificates you upload are shown to Homeowners as supplied.

5.3 Quotes

A Quote is a fixed price for the described scope. Additional work requires a new Quote accepted through the Platform.

6. Commission & Fees

There are no subscription plans, lead fees or listing fees. Homeowners never pay TradeWise. Tradespeople are invoiced a commission on the agreed price of each completed job, at a rate that falls as the job value rises:

Agreed job valueCommissionVerified tradesperson
Up to £1508%7.5%
£151 - £5006%5.5%
£501 - £1,5005%4.5%
£1,501 - £5,0004%3.5%
£5,001+3%2.5%

Verified Tradespeople receive a 0.5% discount on every tier. Commission is calculated on the agreed Contract price and is not charged on cancelled or abandoned jobs. The rates above are read from the same source the Platform uses to calculate your invoice.

7. Payment

7.1 Payment for work is settled directly between the Homeowner and the Tradesperson, on the terms recorded in the Contract. TradeWise does not collect, hold or release money for work.

7.2 TradeWise invoices the Tradesperson for commission after the Homeowner confirms completion.

7.3 Arranging payment outside the Platform in order to avoid commission is a breach of these Terms (Clause 10).

8. Digital Contracts

8.1 When a Quote is accepted, TradeWise generates a service contract recording the agreed scope, price, timeline, cancellation rights, payment terms and dispute process.

8.2 Electronic signatures applied by both parties on the Platform are legally binding under the Electronic Communications Act 2000.

8.3 Nothing in a Contract limits a Homeowner's rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Where a Contract is agreed off-premises, the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 applies unless the Homeowner asks for work to start within that period.

9. Verification Checks

Identity checks are performed by Stripe Identity; we receive only the outcome and the name on the document, never the document itself. Company checks use the Companies House public register. VAT checks use HMRC's service. All are conducted at the point of onboarding and may be repeated.

A verified badge means these checks passed. It is not a guarantee of workmanship, insurance or qualifications, and TradeWise accepts no liability for a third-party check failing to detect fraudulent documentation.

10. Prohibited Uses

You must not use the Platform to:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent job listings or profiles
  • Arrange payment for work outside the Platform to circumvent commission
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Upload content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights
  • Attempt to manipulate reviews or ratings
  • Use automated systems to scrape or extract data from the Platform
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose

11. Intellectual Property

The Platform and all content, features, and functionality are owned by TradeWise Ltd and protected by UK and international intellectual property laws.

By submitting content (job descriptions, photos, reviews) to the Platform, you grant TradeWise a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use and display that content for the purpose of operating the Platform.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, TradeWise's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of: (a) £500; or (b) the total fees paid by you to TradeWise in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms. For material changes we give registered users at least 30 days' notice by email. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
